Best zine name we read since years!! It's the 1st issue, cool 50' retro style, done by Matt from YOUNG PEOPLE WITH FACES band!! Interview with KIP BROWN (the guitarist for KBD band SHOCK), JEFF MAGNUM (Bassist of the DEAD BOYS), KALLE from the MANIKINS, and a family friend NED who was in the garage band ROAD APPLES in the mid '60s. He was from the same scene as bands like the SONICS and the VENTURES. His band never released their recordings (which rock!) so the zine will have those 4 tracks on the CD with various other tracks from bands covered in the zine. There is a record review section as well as a 50' drive in movie review. Germany's DEAN DIRG deliver 14 more blasts of punk-hardcore rippers, the longest of which clocks in at less than a minute and a half. Raw guitars, gang vocals, and furious (yet somewhat danceable) drum beats in the classic DEAN DIRG tradition. The DEAN DIRG sound generally falls somewhere between the CIRCLE JERKS and a less coked-out JAY REATARD mixed with European punks like HENRY FIATS OPEN SOAR or the BLINDS. Sacred Bones Records presents Northern Rocks Bear Weird Vegetable—the next full-length from London, England’s THE REBEL. The alter ego of COUNTRY TEASERS’ Ben Wallers, THE REBEL dates back to the tail-end of the 80’s—having existed side-by-side throughout the TEASERS’ prolific career—often releasing records at a steadier clip than Waller’s main project with songs too madcap to fit into even their William-Burroughs-by-way-of-The-RESIDENTS take on country music. Wallers’ characteristic self-aware irony and surreal gender/race ruminations are still present but sitting backseat in this more fleshed out concept album about decaying conditions on the planet 3ar7h. Although Burroughs comparisons are inevitable, Northern Rocks Bear Weird Vegetable could only have been scripted by THE REBEL. Interview with KIP BROWN (the guitarist for KBD band SHOCK), JEFF MAGNUM (Bassist of the DEAD BOYS), KALLE from the MANIKINS, and a family friend NED who was in the garage band ROAD APPLES in the mid '60s. He was from the same scene as bands like the SONICS and the VENTURES. His band never released their recordings (which rock!) so the zine will have those 4 tracks on the CD with various other tracks from bands covered in the zine. Roy Oden grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. He played in various garage rock bands, including the LAST SONS OF KRYTON. In the late 90's he started a record label, Kryptonite Records and created The EVOLUTIONS. Wendy Norton also grew up in a small Wisconsin town. She played guitar and sang in The LOOKERS (7" on Trick Knee Records). Sharing a common interest in good music and cheap beer, Wendy and Roy moved to the big city (Milwaukee) and started a new band, The REACHAROUNDS! The REACHAROUNDS played a few shows and recorded a couple of demos. Plans for a record were put on hold while Kryptonite financed releases like the first KING LOUIE ONE MAN BAND LP, and records by SCAT RAG BOOSTERS, KILL-A-WATTS and CATHOLIC BOYS.... Roy now lives in New Mexico and has released a couple of records under the monikers "MC Monkey And Ape With Attitude" and "Dirty Needles". Wendy still lives in Milwaukee and is currently a member of PLEXI 3 (with her husband Ryan King) and an all-girl group, The FLIPS. A few years ago both Wendy and Roy were contacted by Certified PR Records, asking for their permission to release some old REACHAROUNDS demos. Wendy and Roy both said it was O.K. The "Rocks Off" EP is a collection of 6 old demos recently remixed and remastered by Wendy. The songs include a ROLLING STONES cover, "Rock Off" (duh), a BOBBY SOXX cover, "Fuck Powerpop" and 4 originals.

This anthology contains the best of their 1979-84 studio recordings.

I really don’t even know where to begin in explaining how great this. Punky, trashy, SUPER CATCHY garage rock from San Francisco. Unfortunately the farewell release of this 4 pretty good dudes. After tons of releases they come up with there best material ever on the that record. This shit just knocks me out. Straight-forward and pissed hardcore that brings me back in the good old days. Fast and angry like it should be. Besides that they still keep an eye on pretty good melodys, so you never get bored. I guess they get realy close to classics like NEGATIVE APPROACH without being a catchy copy. Good game dudes !!! This fine piece of vinyl comes in a massive silkscreened gatefold cover and with complete discography cd with all the stuff they ever put out. First pressing is on dark red vinyl and limited to 300 copys.

9 new blasts from this east german skate punx and they do realy well an that record. I mean the first record was pretty good too, but here they do a big step forward. They come up with deep in the early 80's based raw and agressive hardcore, some folks compare them like a mix of MINOR THREAT and REAGAN YOUTH.. and they got the point with that. On the flipside her buddys from SICK TIMES kick out their first Songs on vinyl. And i guess both bands fits perfect together. Faster and with a little less punk as their split partner but in them same style...damned good debuet. by the way..the vinyl comes in a pretty cool foldout-poster cover and is limited on 300...so hurry up !!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!! Never had heard from that band, like most of you, before I got this album. But that should be changed pretty soon, in fact that this album is so fucking amazing. Its massive PostHardcore/PostPunk in vain of such great bands like HÜSKER DÜ, WIPERS mixed with GUIDE BY VOICES. Super melodic with a smokey voice and it's easy to go along with the songs. If you listen to them once you dont will get it out of your mind for a while thats for sure. So if you are a fan of that type of bands its a must have and you cant be wrong with that.

While the climate of any CAVITY album could be considered hostile, Laid Insignificant has proven to be the most unhinged and ferocious occupant in the CAVITY stable in the 10 years subsequent to it's original release. With added emphasis on faster tempos, layered chordal discordance, and an overall air of frantic desperation, this may stand if not as CAVITY's best album, then certainly as their most furious and scathing.

The Anals were Benoit and Nafi. Hailing from Metz, France, home to a ridiculous number of genre-bending bands, most of which they play in (like A.H Kraken, Electric Guitars, The Dreams, Plastobetton, Scorpion Violente, Funk Police, and more), this is their first (and only?) 7” and it’s a two song ass reamer. Taking the sheer repetitive brutality of a band like the Brainbombs and meshing it with the trance-like drone of a band like Suicide, these two songs have the guitars, drums, and synths all set to attack, and are not for the faint of heart. Sadly, in late 2007 Benoit passed away so now The Anals are done.

LOVE TAN - This Land is No Good 7” (Sweet Rot Rec.) 5,50 Euro
This is easily becoming my favorite label. Every release they've put out has been a must own, and this is no exception. These two guys were originally the pyramids and one of them is in the FACTUMS, and ex-member of INTELLIGENCE. Somewhere between the more focused FACTUMS tracks, the aforementioned INTELLIGENCE, early A-FRAMES, and at times even reminiscent of BLACK TIME. Hard to pin down but very much worth your money. This is their debut release, which will be followed shortly by a full length on Kill Shaman. For fans of TRONICS, The URINALS, The PRATS, etc.

BLANK ITs - Windows Are Dirty 7" (Sweet Rot Rec.) 5,50 Euro
The BLANK ITs are back. After their killer first single, a cool split with the FEELERS and their underrated debut LP on Empty, they have returned with a self-released single of their own, plus this, a two song, no nonsense slab of wax that in this humble listener's opinion is their best record yet. "Windows Are Dirty" is everything an a-side should be - short, to the point, and ridiculously catchy (and you can hear it on the band or label's myspace page) - while the flip "Divorce" is about as epic as a three minute (weird) pop song can be, all played with that distinctive BLANK ITs sound (ie. loud guitars, insectoid vocals, off-kilter drums) and perfectly recorded.

ROBOT ASSASSINS - Beneath The Planet Of The Apes 7” (Total Sound Rec.) 5,75 Euro
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!! This 7”, released in 1997 on the bands’ own Total Sound Records has been highly praised by everyone lucky enough to get their hands on a copy and to this day fetches a pretty penny on ebay. The ROBOT ASSASSINS, from Oakland, were years ahead of their time but sadly broke up before ever making much of a mark and over the years they came very close to throwing the remaining copies of their one and only record into the San Francisco/Oakland Bay, but luckily they didn't. Later in the year Sweet Rot will be posthumously releasing an LP made up of all unreleased recordings form the band, which Terminal Boredom and Static Party have compared to A FRAMES, The HOMOSEXUALS, SIMPLY SAUCER and The URINALS. Their self-described recipe for success takes a sprinkling of sixties garage, a snifter of seventies punk, a dash of eighties hardcore and then lets rip in the noughties. Presumably nothing good happened in the nineties. Formed from the smoking remnants of slap-happy thrashers Crash The Pose and fiercely chaotic hardcore punkers Farewell To Arms, The Limits are on a much catchier, melodic tip, though the energy levels certainly haven't dipped. It's nothing you ain't heard before, but it's done very well indeed!!

These four young lads from Bury used to be in a DEAD KENNEDY'S style punk band called the PUNCTUALS who are actually worth a mention to. They moved from playing DK Hardcore and now play Garage Punk to a disgustingly high level. These lads are all competent musicians and it clearly shows in this record. They're worth seeing live too, just for the instrument destruction that occurs. The record contains 4 tracks and each one is brilliant, there really is no way to fault it. Reuben's vocals really help to set them with his very nasal whine. It really is play you guitars with legs akimbo at the knee's stuff. Its pure riffige from start to finish, really excellent stuff! This is a complete must own for anyone who likes the BRIEFS, the SONICS or THEE MUMMIES!!!

Yes, they are back. They did it again. Here are TATORT TOILET with their brandnew 7". Five fabolous Punkrockanthems. Young, loud and snotty! This French band seems to have delt with quite a few line-up changes, which is once more the case since they have relocated from La Rochelle to join the wild Rock & Roll nightlife in Bordeaux. Their "Rockin' Frenchies" we bought a few years ago sounded like early RIP OFF bands with at times a shot of DWARVES and this is the first time we hear 'em again. "Danger Boy" and "Fier de déplaire" are two fast and tigght punk tracks that are heavily influenced by those other "Fuckin' Frenchies", the TV KILLERS, who blasted around Europe in the late '90s. "I wanna destroy you" on the flip is a total '77 stomper that reminds a good deal of the SEX PISTOLS, without the cockney accent! For sure a cool release for all you punk lovers out there! They actually were on the P.Trash Killed By Trash Vol.1 compilation! 3 songs, clear vinyl.

This is one of, the best straight trashy rock'n'roll records I've heard by a French band since the TV Killers last album. Every song has a trademark itchy guitar sound that totally got under my skin. I really loathe to compare them to other bands, they sound like the good parts of the 60's and 70's mixed together in a scuzzy, fuzzy reverb drenched bucket. The production is right on and they play fast without wrecking the melody. This is definately my new favorite record! Anyone interested in "punk" rock (whatever the fuck that means anymore) should definitely check this one out. Viva les Frogs! 13 solid tunes and an Infections cover!

PROBLEM HAIR - Slightly Floored LP + 7" (Teenage Kicks Rec.) 12,90 EUR
London's legendary PROBLEM HAIR are surely the best kept secret among all those Toe Rag related bands of the mid-nineties. The band's described as a "nasty-assed DICTATORS style punk combo" on an ex-member's Myspace site but that's actually just one aspect. They were fans of the MONKEES' psychedelic "Head" soundtrack, the REAL KIDS, RAMONES, German kraut-punk outfit PACK and much more exquisite stuff and the influences are all obvious here. Actually the recordings were made during free studio time at Toe Rag, just for fun with no aim to release. A tape of the recordings found its way to the Teenage Kicks label, the Germans fell in love with the music at first listen and half a year later it was on plastic. This was in 1995. The band split up 2 weeks prior to the actual release, no promotion was done, the label deceased a year later with most of the remaining stock being destroyed. Around 2-300 copies might have survived & a handful were recently unearthed. So this is your chance to grab this 13 year old gem. Free bonus 7" included of a recording they did with Sexton Ming on organ.

CONSEILLERS TECHNIQUES, LES - E.P.S. LP (Teenage Kicks Rec.) 11,90 EUR
Everyone's been doing the WARSAW/CRISIS thing recently and from today's point of view these roots of gothic/cold wave sound surprisingly timeless. Bands like FRUSTRATION or NOTHING PEOPLE are heavily influenced by it but it wasn't considered so cool in the mid nineties when the spot was on 60s garage and probably some obscure 77 punk rock that was starting to be re-discovered. Back in 1995 some members of The GORGONS recorded this album of their favourite punk classics, all done in very rough mono Toe Rag style, but among the usual BUZZCOCKS, UNDERTONES & SHAM 69 stuff there are killer versions of two WARSAW classics plus CRISIS' "Holocaust". The album wasn't a success back then so of the 500 copies pressed Teenage Kicks probably destroyed up to 300 when they closed down. A handful of copies were found recently & here they are.

2 singers, 4 guitarists, 2 bass players & 2 drummers. On this record LES CONSEILLERS TECHNIQUES (members of the GORGONS) and ARMITAGE SHANKS are playing SIMULTANEOUSLY on the left & right channel. Both tracks originally by the BUZZCOCKS. This double mono disc comes on piss yellow vinyl in brown deluxe sleeves. Released in 1995 on Teenage Kicks records, some copies found recently.

DAXLS - Green Fuzz 7" (Teenage Kicks Rec.) 5,00 EUR
Comes with adult only insert... Dutch drunks that actually featured members of the POOH STICKS and BEATLE HANS & The PAISLEY PERVERTS. The play a demented version of Green Fuz(z) and some other cover versions you won't recognize. A few copies had a porno picture glued onto the original sleeve Beatles' Butcher cover style, so JELLO BIAFRA was very keen on getting a copy. Early release on Teenage Kicks from 1994, including a facsimile copy of the original paste-on picture.

MIRACLE WHIP - I Remember / Top Of My Head 7" (Teenage Kicks Rec.) 5,00 EUR
When London's super obscure "nasty-assed Dictators style punk combo" PROBLEM HAIR split up only weeks before the release of their rare LP, the core members teamed up with a new bass player and Bruce Brand helping out on drums. The one and only result was this desperate 7", both tracks being original PROBLEM HAIR songs of which "I Remember" could have been their hit single in a better world. Only about 150 copies exist, pressed by Teenage Kicks Records in 1995 and a few recently found.
